We had to invest in an extra large one with a door as the dinning room opening was massive and leads to kitchen. Then they figured out how to open haha. I would have went with no door, but I am too short.

It was for us until about 1.5 when we allowed them access to 1 door that had approved snacks, sippy cups and plastic bowls/plates. They loved helping. Everything else is locked up like fort knox.
