Pain is something of an inevitability in life. Unfortunately, its commonality doesn’t make it any easier to experience. The good news is that there are some common natural remedies for pain that you can try. Better still, these natural remedies don’t require you to break the bank to find relief.
Herbal Tea
Some people find that herbal teas can be especially helpful for reducing pain and inflammation. Herbal teas often contain ingredients that fight inflammation, which can be a source of pain in and of itself. Green tea, black tea, ginger tea, rooibos tea, and turmeric tea are popular choices for these conditions. It doesn’t take too much for an herbal tea to be soothing. If nothing else, drinking it can be a calming, relaxing experience that can help take the edge off of your pain.
Ice Packs
Ice packs are a common go-to choice for dealing with the pain associated with acute injuries. They can slow inflammation, reducing the pressure on the injured area. The numbing effect that ice packs have can also provide relief. You don’t have to get fancy ice packs to find relief using this pain remedy. Make your own by combining one part rubbing alcohol with two parts water in a plastic freezer bag, removing as much air as possible before sealing it shut, placing it in a second bag just to be safe, and placing it in the freezer for at least an hour. Ice packs or bags of frozen vegetables can reduce pain from a toothache. They can easily be used for other injuries as well.
Yoga
It may seem a bit counterintuitive, but sometimes the best remedy for pain is to get moving. Yoga practice can be especially helpful in this regard. You move through various stretches and practice breath control and mindfulness while adjusting the level of difficulty to suit your needs. It’s gentle enough to be doable for most people, while gently pushing you towards improvement. All of this combines to make yoga a good option for those suffering from back or neck pain.
No one wants to live with pain, which is why there are so many remedies out there that claim to be able to cure it, or at least alleviate it. Not all remedies are going to be equally effective for everyone, so it may take you a bit of time to find the remedy that works best for you. Remember, you can always talk to your doctor if you want some help figuring out what direction is best to go in to manage your pain naturally.
