As a mom, you already sacrifice so much for your family. Whether you bring in a paycheck or not, you are working 24/7 to give your kids the very best. One thing you should never have to sacrifice is your confidence.
Taking care of yourself allows you to better serve your family, and it models positive self-care to your children. If you feel like your role as mom is taking its toll on your appearance, boost your health and confidence with the following suggestions:
Exercise Regularly
Exercise is one of the best things you can do for both your physical and emotional health. Regular exercise has been shown to lower blood pressure and blood sugar, improve cognitive function, stave off heart disease and diabetes, increase bone density, boost your metabolism, fight depression, maintain a healthy weight, reduce stress, energize you, and restore self-confidence.
Choosing something you enjoy will motivate you to continue your exercise routine, even when it gets hard. Join a gym if you prefer being with other people. Take up a sport you have always wanted to try. Start jogging. It doesn’t have to be extreme. Simply taking a brisk walk for 30 minutes five days a week is enough to give you most of the benefits exercise has to offer.
Get Skin Treatments
You might think that you are too young to start getting skin treatments such as photofacials, PicoSure laser treatment, Thermage FLX, and Botox. However, these skin-tightening, wrinkle-reducing, and glow-inducing wonder treatments work best when started early.
Starting Botox in your 20s and 30s means you won’t need it as often later. Talk to your dermatologist about what skin treatments would be best for you.
Spruce Up Your Wardrobe
Something else that you shouldn’t sacrifice on behalf of your family is your wardrobe. You might be tempted to make your needs the last priority, but doing so isn’t in anyone’s best interest. Your kids need a happy, confident mother, and wearing the faded fashions from 10 years ago isn’t the way to go about that. You will feel better about yourself if you treat yourself to a few wardrobe refreshers each season. Think of it as an investment into your mothering energy!
Your unselfishness and love are extremely commendable. Sometimes, however, moms mix up self-sacrifice with sacrificing themselves. You can care for your family better when you care for yourself, too. Losing your identity and self-confidence as a woman will only lead to poor health and resentment. A happy, confident mom is the very best kind!
