The coronavirus pandemic continues to frighten people for very good reasons. There have been few previous pandemics as bad as this one, and the worst may be yet to come. Therefore, you must take steps to protect yourself and your family.
Stay Quarantined
You need to stay quarantined as much as possible. You may spread the disease to other people and never feel sick yourself, so for the sake of everyone, stay home unless you are going out for necessities or you are a vital employee. It’s important to only leave your home for essential activities. If you do need to leave home, take only those who absolutely must go with you. Social distancing is critical to stopping the spread of this disease. Wear a mask and stay at least 6 feet away from everyone else to the best of your ability.
Keep Things Clean and Disinfected
Especially if you have a family, it is easy for your home to look like a disaster area when everyone is inside all day. This is especially true if you are trying to be your child’s tutor and work-from-home at the same time. Yet, you must step up your home’s cleanliness to keep the coronavirus away. After going out, spray your shoes with a disinfectant before you go back inside. If you feel you have been in contact with others, remove your clothes and wash them immediately. Take a shower and scrub your bathtub and bathroom after using them. The virus can live on surfaces for up to 72 hours, so make sure you keep everything wiped down. Additionally, set up a chore chart so all areas of your home are being cleaned regularly.
Protect the Elderly and Those With Weakened Immune Systems
It is true that if you get the coronavirus you may not feel any worse than if you catch the common flu. However, for those who have weakened immune systems and people over the age of 65, that might not be the case. While it may be tempting to hug your elderly kinfolk, avoid that temptation. You need to stay away from them so that you don’t make them ill. Instead, try calling them on the phone or checking in on them via social media or through email. They need to know that you care enough to stay away.
We’ll eventually get through the coronavirus. Following these tips will ensure that fewer people get sick and that we can all tell stories about the time we lived through while the world was shut down.
