Everyone thinks stockpiles are for anything, but food. Well, I am here to help you realize you can stockpile food as well. This post can help you find ways to get stockpile prices and what is great to get. I personally stockpile food and household items. Being prepared and knowing that if we lost a job or something else happens, that we have what we need to make it a bit without an income coming in. Also good to have if someone gets sick or hurt and you have to take time off. Hope this helps you get started.
Stockpile Items to get:
- Mac n Cheese
- Bread
- Milk
- Soup
- Noodles
- Sauce
- Rice
- Beans
- Corn Bread
- Meat
- Flour
- Sugar
- Peanut Butter
- Cereal
- Canned Veggies
- Water
- Canned Tuna, Chicken, and other meat products
How to buy at low prices:
- Look for Manager Specials (Meat, Bread and sometimes milk)
- Look at amazing sale prices
- Combine coupons with sales
- Check your local discount stores
Having a stockpile of food is also great for if you want to cut down on your grocery budget. I have a small deep freezer plus my fridge/freezer and a small pantry. I separate the meat into servings for my family and vacuum seal them (lasts longer in the freezer). When you freeze milk make sure you pour a little out so that way it can expand and not explode. Another idea is dried fruit if you want to add that to your list. Also, check dates on food once every month or two and make sure I put items that will expire first in front, so they can be used. Some foods will go a bit past the expiration date, just be very careful. Stockpiles can help you in multiple ways, so invest maybe $10-$15 every week or two on adding to it. It is worth it!

I have a large stockpile of pantry and frozen food items. In fact, my significant other thinks I’ve got way too much food 😉

Sometimes when I stockpile, I forget what I have…prob bc I don’t have a running list of what’s in the pantry…though we do have some emergency food and water.

Now that it’s just my husband and I, I don’t stockpile much. Those I do, are things like toiletries that I buy in bluk at Costco and maybe some beans or chicken in the freezer for quick meals. x

I actually do this too. I buy the staples that we use in our house. Rice is a big one for us and also Beans.

This is such great advice. My boyfriend and I recently moved into a house together and this is something we’ve been discussing as we think it would be great to have a pantry full of essentials we can use to quickly pull meals together. I appreciate the tips – they’ll definitely make things easier!

This is DEFINITELY a post that I am going to keep in mind in the near future. We are working on saving for a house, and as soon as we get one one of the first thing I want to do is to get something like this set up!
Our apartment fridge and freezer are just too small to make this happen. (Although we do ALWAYS keep a good supply of canned veggies and pasta on hand, since we were blessed to have a big pantry here!)
Thank you for sharing this! I have bookmarked it so that I will be able to find it in the future!

You should always have a stock of canned food in our houses, as you said, you never know when you need it. It’s a great idea to create a stockpile of food when you want to cut down your groceries budget.

Non perishable food items are great in times of emergencies. This past Memorial Day weekend we had a major storm to blow through and lots on people were without electricity some for over a week. I lost power for 3 days, although I had to get rid of my food on the refrigerator I was able to eat the non perishable.

Interesting tips. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Our children are grown and out on their own, we find that we require so few groceries now as we prefer to buy and eat fresh meals. A few items we do stockpile are on your list; tuna and rice as we are sure to eat them before they expire. When the children were at home we would definitely stock pile a lot more food, as we fed them and their friends all the time!

I go to the grocery store about every other day. Good thing I love it! If I purchase a basket load of groceries, it will be gone in 2-3 days. So what works for my family and me is just buying what we need for that day or two.
